Or do you look more like the One who created you?
Ever been that person someone calls when they’re stuck in a sticky situation? They’re desperate, asking: “What should I do?”
It’s an honor, right? Somewhere along the line they saw you as a confidant, someone whose perspective they trust. So you offer your take but ultimately it’s their call to make.
Now, if we’re being real… how does it feel when you pour out this well thought out advice and they don’t take it? Like, cool I gave you gold and you just chucked it out the window… Gotta laugh it off.
But here’s the kicker:
we pull the same move on God all the time. We cry out, “Lord, I’m stuck, what should I do?” and then grip our own plans like they’re the only way around.
Here’s the thing: maybe the answer isn’t about getting out of the “sticky” as fast as possible. Maybe the answer is in the sticky. The tension, the mess, the unknown. It is where endurance grows & The Man of many sorrows meets us. Jesus warms us with his comfort & the understanding of our unknowns.
A fire doesn’t pick who it warms, it just burns bright and invites anyone who needs it to draw close… But you’ve gotta choose to step toward it.
There is always a purpose in our pain. And that purpose is people. Your spouse, son, daughter, friend, companion or person wanting to promote you… is watching how you navigate the sticky.
-Will you blast your hot take on social or take a breather and put the phone down?
-Will you keep dodging that tough convo with your friend or finally face it?
-Will you grit your teeth through another day with that coworker or offer a little grace?
-Will you own your mistake or double down?
Your choices are the mess. They show who you’re really calling on.
If your life blends in with the noise of the world, ask yourself:
Am I leaning on my own resolve, or am I drawing close to the One who’s been through every storm? Jesus is right there, whispering, “You’re not alone in this.” So believe Him.
Life’s sticky moments hold a divine purpose. Show a world bogged down by chaos how to move through it with grace. Let your choices reflect the One guiding you.
What’s one small step you can choose today to reflect Him instead of culture?
